Apple Pie Filling
- 9 cups thinly sliced apples
- 1.5 Tbsp lemon juice
- 5 cups water
- 2 1/4 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- In a large bowl toss apples with lemon juice and set aside. Pour water into a dutch oven over medium heat. Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg in a bowl; add to water, stir well and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add apples and return to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until apples are tender, about 6-8 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes.
- Using gallon size freezer ziplock bags; ladel filling into each (prob 2-3) and place in pie pan and put in freezer.
